Fly like Airwolf through 3D Game Cities

Zürich, Switzerland
Procedural Inc. today announced the support of 3Dconnexion’s award-

winning line of 3D mice. The software is used by high-profile game companies such as Blizzard, Square Enix, THQ, Rockstar North, etc. and was awarded Killer Technology by 3D World magazine.

“For the development of urban game environments, the CityEngine jumps the hurdle of early ramp-up and quick iteration,” said Pascal Müller, CEO Procedural Inc. “With the support of 3Dconnexion’s 3D mice for CityEngine, game professionals are allowed to take full advantage of CityEngine’s functions and with the helicopter mode you can fly like Airwolf through vast generated 3D game cities.”

Unlike mice confined to motion on one flat plane, 3Dconnexion’s 3D mice allow game professionals to move in all three dimensions simultaneously, using six degrees of freedom sensor technology. By gently lifting, pressing and turning the 3Dconnexion 3D mouse controller cap, game developers working in CityEngine can navigate and review 3D cities in a natural and intuitive manner.

“3Dconnexion 3D mice augment the CityEngine game development workflow nicely, and together we provide a powerful 3D solution for urban environments in game development,” said Dieter Neujahr, president of 3Dconnexion. “Whether it is for a futuristic sci-fi city or a medieval town, 3Dconnexon’s 3D mice offer CityEngine users a faster and more intelligent 3D navigation experience.

Ready-to-fly-cities are provided with the free 30 day trial of CityEngine. As a special gift, Procedural and 3Dconnexion offers a free 3Dconnexion 3D mouse for the first 5 CityEngine PRO license buyers. Furthermore, Procedural and 3Dconnexion operates a demo suite during Game Developers Conference (GDC), March 9 – 13, 2010, in San Francisco.

Online Social Media Use Sharply on the Rise in College Admissions for 2010

Chicago, IL (Vocus) March 22, 2010 -- The skyrocketing use of online social media has now extended to college admission offices, with 62% of colleges planning to dedicate more resources to social media, according to a study released Monday by Cappex.com

(http://www.cappex.com). In addition, nearly half (47%) of college admission departments view social media as important or critically important in their recruitment efforts.

The 2010 Social Media and College Admissions study was conducted in January by Cappex.com, a college search website, and polled 170 college admission officials in both public and private institutions ranging from 56 to 40,000 undergraduates. The study revealed six key findings relevant to colleges currently using or considering social media in student recruitment.

“College admission offices are turning to social media more than ever,” said Chris Long, president of Cappex.com. “Admission offices are realizing the importance of including social media in their recruitment efforts to ensure that they connect with students in an authentic way and in an environment that students prefer.”

“It is about accessibility and authenticity,” an admission officer from a private college said in the study. “Students are able to learn more about the college while also connecting with current students in a genuine and personal way.”

While use of social media in admissions is on the rise, it has not yet surpassed traditional recruiting methods. College fairs and traditional student search mailings continue to take priority in recruitment efforts, the study reported.

Facebook emerged from the study as the social media tool most frequently used by admission offices, with 66% using it on a regular basis. Most admission offices gravitate toward Facebook fan pages because of the site’s overwhelming popularity among prospective students.
