China
Now Accessible To Artists and Bands Worldwide
Austin and Berlin March 16, 2010 Berlin-based 88tc88 (http://88tc88.com/)
launches today at the prestigious SXSW Interactive Conference (http://my.sxsw.com/events/event/7682)
in Austin, Texas. The company will introduce an
|
| unprecedented and truly revolutionary Web-based
service where bands, artists and musicians can easily translate
their names, band names, songs and album titles into Chinese, enabling
them to reach an untapped audience and sell their music for the
first time in greater China.
The company’s range of forthcoming services are backed by
Shanghai Synergy Culture & Entertainment Group, a division of
Shanghai Media Group, one of the most powerful and influential Chinese-language
media and entertainment companies in the world. Offerings will include
access to the biggest Chinese Internet portals and telecoms for
digital and mobile distribution and promotion.
“Everyone already recognizes that China is essentially the
world’s largest start-up and that it will very quickly transform
into the largest music market in the world,” said Thomas Reemer,
founder and chairman of 88tc88.com. “However, the mystery
for the music industry has been how to monetize this market, and
for independent artists and bands, how to reach it. Today, 88tc88.com
delivers a streamlined solution that opens a significant new music
market to the rest of the world backed by one of the most powerful
media partners in Asia.”
Translation is a crucial first step into the burgeoning Chinese
market, and it means a translation of literally everything connected
to the artist’s work – including name, song titles,
lyrics and albums. Those translations are subsequently spelled in
3 different ways: traditional Chinese, simplified Chinese and Pinyin,
which is the phonetic translation of Chinese signs in Latin-based
letters.
“We will promote independent music to the Chinese market,
which already has an enormous appetite and passion for music, and
will appreciate this new groundswell of indie music leading to significant
sales for artists and bands," said Bill Zhang, VP of Shanghai
Synergy Culture & Entertainment Group. "Together, we have
a complete and exclusive solution to help musicians achieve a market
that they could not reach formerly. Therefore, I believe this project
is the fastest and most effective sales channel for artists to enter
the Chinese market."

Indie
Singer/Songwriter, Dion Roy, Sets Sail with International Recording
Artist, Ryan Cabrera
New York, NY (Vocus) April 20, 2010 -- On April 23rd, 2010, New
York-based singer/songwriter Dion Roy (www.DionRoy.com) will hit
the Manhattan waterways to perform an acoustic set with Ryan Cabrera
as part of the “Rocks Off” concert cruise series
|
Just back from his SXSW showcase and
a headlining performance with Eve 6, Dion Roy is quickly embracing
his new role as “front man,” after many years of performing
as bass player and behind the scenes songwriter in other bands.
Born in Namibia, raised in South Africa and later New Jersey, Dion’s
sound is most often compared to artists such as Ryan Adams, Pete
Yorn, and groups like Snow Patrol.
Dion initially made his solo mark with the release of his debut
10-track self-written and recorded album, “Gallery,”
in June 2009. He has since been featured on several TV spots including
ABC’s Good Morning Baltimore, Fox News Connecticut, Good Morning
Connecticut, and Plum TV in Nantucket, and performed at top music
venues ranging from The Viper Room in Los Angeles to The Highline
Ballroom in NYC, (where he initially opened for Ryan Cabrera).
Dion is currently in the studio finishing up his ‘follow-up’
EP, “The Nearest Light,” due out in June, 2010, which
is set to include his latest single, “The Wave”, mixed
by the legendary Scott Riebling.
The concert cruise departs from the Skyport Marina located at East
23rd St. & FDR Dr. on Manhattan’s East River. Doors will
open at 7pm with the boat departing from the marina promptly at
8pm and returning around 11pm. Food and a cash bar will be available
on the boat, and tickets are still available via www.dionroy.com/onaboat.
