Universal Music Publishing Group Signs American Idol Winner Kris Allen

LOS ANGELES, April 15 Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) today announced the signing of an exclusive world-wide publishing agreement with American Idol winner Kris Allen. The publishing deal encompasses Kris Allen's self-titled album as well as future works during the term of the agreement.

Kris Allen's post-Idol self-titled album was released in November 2009 through Jive Records, hitting Top 20 on the Billboard 200 and Top 10 on Top Digital Albums. Kris collaborated with UMPG's The Script on his first single "Live Like We're Dying" and "Written All Over My Face."
Kris' path to victory on American Idol included memorable performances of Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine," Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror" and Kanye West's "Heartless." Kris was praised by the judges for his original arrangements of such well-known songs.

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) February 22, 2010 -- Grand Canyon University's College of Education offers students the unique opportunity to gain real world experience well they are earning their education degree (http://coe.gcu.edu). The College of Education offers students a number of opportunities to gain hands on experience and offers students resources that help facilitate this process.

"Our goal at Grand Canyon University is to prepare our students for positions in the real world," said Bill Jenkins, Grand Canyon University's Executive Director of the Office of Institutional Advancement. "Our education program does an incredible job of providing students the opportunity to gain field experience and preparing them for the challenges they will face in the workplace."

College of Education students take part in Student Teaching, which is a full-time one semester long assignment that occurs after a student has completed their coursework in their respective program of study. The purpose of Student Teaching is for the candidate to demonstrate mastery of Arizona's Professional Teacher Standards as well as Interstate New Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium standards.

Students pursuing an education degree are aided in this process by the university's Office of Field Experience, which facilitates the placement of student teachers completing undergraduate degree in education as well as graduate student seeking their masters degree in education.

The College of Education also offers hands on experience through practicum. In order to establish on-going connections between what students learn in their courses, some courses require practicum hours. The university highly encourages students pursuing an education degree to perform their practicum hours in diverse settings. For example, if the practicum hours for one course were performed in a 3rd grade class the practicum hours for the next course will be performed in a 7th or 8th grade class.
